This lull between Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day may have the same feel as those uncomfortable, inter-festivity doldrums that lay between the winter holidays and New Year’s, but for those looking to add some excitement and joy to their lives, Westchester is never a place to let anyone stay bored for long! Here are some of the best ways to get your guffaws and cut loose this weekend.
Saturday
Did somebody say, “Pregame”? If you’re already thinking about stocking up for festivities next weekend, you should definitely drop by Harrison Wine Vault’s 7th Annual Whiskey Festival. The local giant of potent potables holds a massive tasting party every year to benefit the Harrison Public Library, with 100% of your $10 entrance fee going directly to benefit the organization. That $10 is well worth it, however, as your admission grants access to sampling over fifty different whiskeys, even including some rare and specialty bottles. Come, enjoy the party, and pick up a few bottles of your new favorites to enjoy with your friends later.
Feel like a few laughs? Orange Is the New black’s own “Big Boo,” Lea DeLaria is bringing her bringing her Bowie, Jazz, and Comedy tour to Purchase’s Performing Arts Center this Saturday. Featuring an evening of DeLaria’s hilarious introspection, stand-up, and vocal stylings, the award-winning actress and comedian is sure to be a hit. Stick around after the show for an informal chart with DeLaria, hosted by Purchase College’s own Dr. Shaka McGlotten. Tickets start at just $13.75.
