Westchester may have a little bit of a rep as the quiet suburb compared to Manhattan, but anyone who lives here can tell you that we like to rock and roll all night and party every day. Well, some days. Holidays. And maybe a summer Friday. But the nights are totally for rocking and this weekend just proves it. If you’ve been working for the weekend, here are the five concerts you’ll want to score tickets to so you can really cut loose and shake your groove thing.
Friday, February 22
First to the stage, seminal rock band Cheap Trick will be lighting up The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester. Tearing up the stage with frenetic energy from 1973 through their Hall of Fame induction a couple years ago, Cheap Trick wants you to want them, and to further tempt you they’ll be bringing on special guest, singer-songwriter and guitarist Aaron Lee Tasjan. Tickets start at $35.

Saturday, February 23
Saturday is a mixtape of musical legends. Again at the Cap, Pink Talking Fish, the Pink Floyd/Talking Heads/Phish tribute act returns to Westchester, performing the marathon that is Phish’s “Junta,” interspersed with hits from both Floyd and the Heads. Greg Ormont, of Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, will serve as ringmaster, as New York’s Big Apple Circus provides live circus attractions on and off stage. Tickets start at $22.50.
Just over the border in Stamford, The Palace Theatre is also hosting a special tribute, as 1964 will floor the audience with an act that Rolling Stone called the “best Beatles tribute on earth.” Unlike other cover bands, 1964 painstakingly recreates early Beatles performances using only vintage instruments, clothing, and perfect recreations of early concert and television clips right down to the on-stage banter between members. Tickets start at $22.
Over on the West side of the county, Tarrytown Music Hall will be hosting The Wailers. Bob Marley’s originals, under the direction of bassist “Familyman” Barrett, and with the addition of young drummer Aston Barrett Jr. — bassist son and nephew of drummer Carly Barrett — will be jamming all night. Tickets start at $38.

Sunday, February 24
As the weekend’s encore performance, Empire City Casino in Yonkers will be hosting its annual Lunar New Year Spectacular. The day of free events starts with lion dancers on the gaming floor beginning at 2 p.m., followed by a Chinese concert in the entertainment lounge from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Musical acts include 1st Runner Up in the 2016 Chinese American Supernova Singing Competition, Chason Che; Global Music Award winner and traditional Chinese instrumentalist Fei Fei Yang; Supernova 2nd Runner Up of 2017, Jario Ng; and ETTV Top Idol Competition 2015 1st Runner Up Sharon Chen. Throughout, feast on delicacies from the casino noodle bar or casino floor rolling dim sum cart.
