Move over, NYC — the HV is muscling its way into the multimedia industry through a new division of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.
Titled Art Industry Media (AIM), the division was created to promote the development of the creative-arts industry within the Hudson Valley. As a result, the region is already poised for a vigorous multimedia economy.
“One thing that America exports in abundance is media content, and there has been this rather remarkable expansion of media-oriented businesses in this area,” says Ben Green, Chamber of Commerce board member and committee chair for AIM.
It is through the development of AIM and the support it provides — as well as arrivals of new technology, the Hudson Valley’s proximity to the city, and the area’s affordable commercial space — that Peekskill and the surrounding area have emerged as a multimedia hub.
AIM has already assembled an impressive roster of participating venues, which includes Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, Paramount Hudson Valley Theater, Peekskill Arts Alliance, Peekskill Clay Studios, Peekskill Film Festival, and Westchester Community College. Each venue will host an event designed to showcase the city of Peekskill’s extensive resources for fostering art, industry, and education.
The division is also organizing AIM ’18, a weekend-long series of events in Peekskill that will showcase all that is happening in the emerging Hudson Valley multimedia industry. AIM ’18 begins the weekend of March 24. For more information, visit www.artindustrymedia.com.
