The Lyndhurst Flower and Antiques Show Returns for its Fourth Year

For a few days each spring, Tarrytown’s Lyndhurst mansion transforms into a jewel box of eye-popping floral and arrangements and antiques. Celebrating its fourth year, The Lyndhurst Flower and Antiques show will welcome thousands of visitors from April 5 to 7, with events such as high tea in the mansion’s guest cottage, floral weaving workshops, jewelry appraisals, and a garden shop. The event will also feature an antique-show walkthrough, with lifestyle expert Bob Richter.

According to Howard Zar, executive director of Lyndhurst, this show is the perfect opportunity for families to experience the mansion for the first time. “On Saturday and Sunday, there will be about 19 different florists, artists, or exhibitors in all the different rooms of the mansion,” says Zar. “This is also one of the times where you don’t actually have to take a tour of the house. You walk through at your own pace, and that’s particularly important for families with younger kids, who are too young to really be able to handle a full, one-hour historical tour.”

Zar is particularly enthusiastic about the exhibitors, which comprise a number of well-known, boundary-pushing floral artists. “We have an exhibitor named Josh Werber, who creates these floral crowns,” notes Zar. “They’re live flowers that are made into these elaborate headdresses.” Zar adds the show will also feature five dresses that once belonged to the duchess of Talleyrand, atop which will rest Werber’s crowns.

Plus, the acclaimed New York artist Portia Munson will have a 30-foot hanging banner on show, among other incredible sites. “In addition to the florists of all different types, doing different vignettes in the rooms, there will also be all these other artistic moments, which I think people will find very interesting and truly unique,” says Zar.
