The Latest in Westchester's Food and Dining Scene This Month

What you need to know when it comes to grub in the county.

Ichabod’s of Sleepy Hollow (128 Cortlandt St, Sleepy Hollow; 914.909.5089), which opened in early spring in the space that formerly housed Thai restaurant Sea Spice, serves Traditional American fare, including griddled cornbread with honey, chicken pot pie, and pan-roasted pork loin. A thoughtful beverage program offers wines from sustainable, boutique vineyards, plus specialty cocktails using juices pressed in-house, homemade syrups, and house-infused liquors.

It’s a family affair at La Vista (355 Smith Ridge Rd, South Salem; 914.533.2671), the 70-seat Italian restaurant that opened in 2016 in a charming Colonial that previously held Nino’s. Owner and Chef Remy Hoti, who formerly ran the white-tablecloth Fino in Midtown Manhattan, works with his wife, Dashurije, son and GM Kosovar, and daughter Albana. Tableside presentations are a signature at La Vista, including Caesar salad, Dover sole, and branzino, plus a dessert cart with homemade tiramisu, Key lime pie, and New York-style cheesecake, rolled out to guests at the end of the meal. In addition to a 40-seat patio in the rear of the house, a garden yields tomatoes, three types of peppers, zucchini, herbs, and cucumbers seasonally.

Post Road Ale House (13 Huguenot St, New Rochelle; 914.365.2365) has reopened under new management with a refreshed decor and updated menu. Chef Brian MacMenamin, the original owner, is back as co-owner/executive chef.  Expect dishes such as cashew-crusted calamari, beef empanadas with Caribbean dipping sauce, and lamb shank osso buco.

The third county location of Bareburger (445 E Main St, Mount Kisco; 914.864.0531) opened in June, taking the space that previously housed a Friendly’s.

Morton’s The Steakhouse (White Plains; 914.683.6101) relocated from The Source shopping center at 9 Maple Avenue to 5 Mamaroneck Avenue in the City Center. Legal Sea Foods previously occupied the location.

The 7th annual Putnam County Wine & Food Fest takes place this month on the 12th and 13th at Iron & Wine Restaurant and Westview Golf Driving Range (3191 Rte 22, Patterson). Cider, spirits, and wine tastings, live music, and cooking and mixologist demos are included with admission; food, beer, and kids’ arts and crafts are available for purchase.
