Ballet of the Ball
The Tarrytown Music Hall just embarked on an inspired series of performances called Westchester Wednesday Dance, dedicated to showing off the venue’s widely acclaimed company-in-residence, Ballet Des Amériques. During one Wednesday in October, February, April, and June, renowned French-American choreographer Carole Alexis and her Port Chester-based company will demonstrate incredibly accomplished ballet, the likes of which are rarely seen in the county.

Pen and String
James Joyce Award-winning writer Salman Rushdie comes to Westchester for a truly unique evening of literature and music. Rushdie will be joined by the American String Quartet, which will perform a work by Paul Cantelon written about a novel by Rushdie. In turn, Rushdie will read excerpts from the book between movements, making for a truly singular evening at Purchase’s Performing Arts Center.

Best Friends Forever
Adults with a soft spot for the ’90s megahit sitcom Friends will want to drop by The Ridgefield Playhouse this month for a saucy show based upon the sensational six. Friends! The Musical Parody brings the beloved television show to the stage with hilarious sketches and silly songs based upon the travails of Ross, Rachel, and the rest of the squad.

Katonah’s Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts regularly welcomes some of the most acclaimed classical musicians on earth, but one of their most electrifying shows features some entirely new ones. The center’s Evnin Rising Stars program brings distinguished artists and budding musicians together for a performance of works by Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Shostakovich.

Yonkers’ Hudson River Museum has become host to one of the most incredible art installations the county has yet seen. This month, internationally renowned artist Maya Lin will overtake the museum with Maya Lin: A River Is a Drawing. The exhaustive intallation inspired by the Hudson RIver will include bamboo stalks in the form of a 3D drawing, an incredible river of glass marbles, a 35-foot sculpture constructed from webbing wires, and other artistic odes to the region.
