Recently, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals got some good news—again. For the second year running, the Tarrytown-based biotech company made Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list, the only Westchester-based corporation that can lay claim to that distinction.
Last year, Regeneron barely sneaked onto the list, coming in at No. 99. In 2016, however, they shot all the way up to No. 72, largely on the strength of a whopping 40-percent increase in full-time job growth from the previous year. Regeneron also offers an attractive benefits package, including tuition reimbursement, health insurance to part-timers, same-sex benefits, a nondiscrimination policy, telecommuting opportunities, discounted gym memberships, and an onsite fitness center. It’s perks-heavy, too, with things like massage therapy and fitness classes to a subsidized lunch daily and free beverages every day, throughout the day, to seduce applicants into the fold. It’s no surprise, then, that 95 percent of Regeneron employees say they are proud to tell others they work there, and 92 percent believe management is honest and ethical in their business practices.
Several other businesses that have a prominent presence in the county (though they are not headquartered here) made the top-100 list. They include The Container Store (14), in White Plains and Yonkers; REI (26), in Yonkers; Hyatt (7), in White Plains and Yonkers; Hilton (56), in Rye Brook; Whole Foods (75), in Port Chester, White Plains, and Yonkers; Marriott (83), in New Rochelle, Rye, Tarrytown, West Harrison, White Plains, and Yonkers; Nordstrom (92), in White Plains; and Cheesecake Factory (98), in White Plains and Yonkers.
