The newest openings, expansions, and offerings in Westchester this month.

Halstead Ave Taqueria (Harrison) owner Luis Aguilera has opened his second restaurant, Taco Shack (27 N Main St, Port Chester; 914.481.5551). Corn-tortilla tacos like pork chili verde and chicken tinga are offered, but also salads, guacamole, tortilla soup, four different enchiladas, and freshly squeezed juices (e.g., pineapple crush with fresh pineapple, cinnamon, lime juice, and sugar). Behind the full bar there’s a cocktail menu with selections such as margaritas, pisco sours, and tequila-based drinks. Brunch, with items such as breakfast tacos and tortilla casseroles, is available on Sundays.

Set to have opened in May is Lenny’s North (386 Main St, Armonk; 914.273.8686) in the space that previously housed Restaurant North. The acclaimed farm-to-table restaurant, which debuted in 2010, was known for its robust support of local farmers and fishermen as well as chef/co-owner Eric Gabrynowicz, a four-time James Beard Award semifinalist. Gabrynowicz departed in October 2016. Lenny Balidemaj is behind Lenny’s North and owns Lenny’s Steakhouse in Larchmont and Il Castello in Mamaroneck.

Also to have opened by this month (May 26) is Tailgate Dogs & Sausages (766 North Ave, New Rochelle; 914.499.3470), a casual eatery serving organically certified beef, pork, chicken, and plant-based dogs and sausages free of GMO, antibiotics, hormones and preservatives. Sample menu items include the Rodeo Dog (hot dog with cotija cheese, chipotle ranch spread, and cowboy caviar, or tomato, corn, jalapeño, and black-bean salsa), Reggae Dog (chicken hot dog with hot relish, Jamaican jerk seasoning, lettuce, and whole-grain mustard), and The Ragin’ Cajun (grilled andouille sausage with caramelized onions, bread and butter pickles, and Creole spread).

Colony Grill, a quartet of Connecticut-based pizzeria-tavern hybrids serving signature hot-oil bar pies, plans to open their first Westchester location this month in Port Chester (35 Abendroth Ave). The original Colony Grill, a post-Prohibition bar in an Irish immigrant neighborhood in Stamford, opened in 1935.

Get ready for lamb chops at Purdy’s Farmer & the Fish (100 Titicus Rd, North Salem; 914.617.8380). Co-Owner/Chef Mike Kaphan has purchased 15 feeder lambs to be raised on the agricultural property adjacent to the restaurant. The lamb dishes will begin appearing on the menu in September.
