Z Hospitality Group is known for eye-catching, on-trend restaurants serving contemporary Mediterranean or Italian fare, including Mediterraneo and Terra in Greenwich, Mediterraneo at Hotel Zero Degrees in Norwalk, Solé in New Canaan, Acqua in Westport, and, in Westchester, Aurora in Rye.
The group’s first restaurant offering contemporary American cuisine is the newish (opened December 2015), 92-seat EASTEND, located in the space that once housed Primary Food & Drink.
Chef Albert DeAngelis, who’s worked at Z Hospitality for 25 years, has prior experience in Manhattan at Maurice in the Le Parker Meridien and Chez Josephine. His plates are beautifully presented, with inspired use of micro-greens, edible flowers, and herbs. Standout dishes include a salad of gold and red beets, ricotta, and compressed strawberries; black-and-blue fries with a Gorgonzola sauce (they’re coated with 10 different dried herbs, ground garlic, onion powder, espelette pepper, cayenne pepper, and dried mustard); and spicy lobster spaghetti. The ravioli, gnocchi, all dressings, sauces, stocks, ice cream, and gelato are made in-house.
And don’t forget a drink from the innovative bar program, where juices and syrups are made in-house and which features classic and seasonally inspired cocktails, local craft beer, a large selection of brown spirits, and a curated Old and New World wine list.
More from Z Hospitality: A third Mediterraneo was scheduled to have opened in White Plains as of press time, and a second Terra, in Danbury, debuts later this fall.
