Brandi Pizzeria, which invented the Margherita pizza in 1889, has finally emigrated from its Neapolitan roots to the New World. If that fact alone isn’t reason enough to check out the brand-new Port Chester restaurant, I don’t know what is. But just in case, here are a few more: Abruzzese chef Marcello Florio also offers a full menu of Italian fare, including creamy truffle-laced risotto, lusciously sauced pork chops, and a super-addictive house-made flatbread with sea salt and herbs. Partner Ray Payne has created a surprisingly stylish yet comfortable space, just two doors down from Copacabana, while GM Carlo Mariani brings more than 30 years’ experience (including 15 years at NYC’s Cipriani) and an Italian sensibility to the service and the wine list. But honestly, come for the pizza — thin, crispy, and topped with milky mozzarella and bright tomato — it’s the only reason you’ll need.
