New Rochelle Gifted 7.5-Ton Sculpture That Once Stood in Sony Studios

It stands as a cynosure of the city’s resurgent Downtown core.

In August, a 7.5-ton sculpture by renowned artist R.M. Fischer was hauled all the way from Sony Studios in LA to New Rochelle’s Ruby Dee Park at Library Green. The sculpture, titled Twilight of the Dawn, was a gift from the artist to the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District and stands as a cynosure of the city’s resurgent Downtown core. Part of a public-art collage intended to symbolize nature’s essential elements, Twilight of the Dawn represents the sun — all the more fitting considering the sculpture is outfitted with solar panels that illuminate its dome and interior.
