Love Cats? The Westchester Feline Club Cat Show Promises Furry Fun

Hey, domestic pet lovers, looking for the purrfect thing to do the weekend of May 20? Well, let us suggest you head over to the Ramada Fishkill for the 2017 Westchester Feline Club Cat Show.

This year’s show is special for a couple of reasons. First, it follows a two-year hiatus as the club recruited qualified staff. Second – and try not to get your whiskers in a twist – but the 2017 outing will include a rather unique theme.

“This year, it is going to be called ‘Cat Show Wedding Party,’” says Marvie Russell of the Westchester Feline Club. “Our show manager and our secretary are going to be married on Saturday after the show. So the theme for the show will be weddings.”

Show manager Janet Spain and show secretary Robert Rohrbaugh first met at a cat show, so it made plenty of sense that after Robert popped the question, they would tie the knot (perhaps with a ball of yarn) at the Ramada with their best feline friends in attendance.

As for the roughly 200 kitty competitors, they will strut their stuff within six show rings, to be examined and evaluated by judges stationed at each ring. They will be judged according to standards based on breed, including body, eyes, color, and personality. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for kids under 12.
