Here's Where to Get the Best View of the Tarrytown Lighthouse

Get a glimpse of this local beacon of hope.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of when one of Westchester’s true treasures, the Tarrytown Lighthouse (aka Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse or Kingsland Point Lighthouse), made its way onto the National Register of Historic Places — 10 years after the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation shrewdly decided to restore it.

The 55-foot sparkplug lighthouse has stood watch over the majestic Hudson for 116 years and has had 12 keepers and their families as occupants. The best place to view this rich parcel of Westchester’s past is at Kingsland Point Park, but you can call the Sleepy Hollow Recreation Department, at 914.366.5109, to inquire about group tours.
