Mediterraneo (189 Main St, White Plains; 914.448.8800) has a new menu through the end of the month that emphasizes fresh produce, myriad spices, and global influences. Octopus carpaccio with harissa oil, zucchini spaghetti, crispy gnocchi salad, and pan-roasted West Coast halibut are dishes to sample. “As much as possible, I stay away from dairy, gluten, and unhealthy fats,” says Executive Chef Albert DeAngelis. “Some of the summer’s best produce is still around in September.”
After more than 40 years, La Riserva in Larchmont has shuttered; Route One (2382 Boston Post Rd; 914.834.5584), a family-style, traditional Italian eatery debuted in the location in mid-July.
Molly Spillane’s has closed; scheduled to have opened in its place by press time is Nonna Carola (211 Mamaroneck Ave, Mamaroneck), a contemporary Italian restaurant owned by Chef Gus Galvao.

Pizzeria Uno in White Plains is now closed; expected in the space sometime this fall is La Botte (14 Martine Ave), a high-style Mediterranean restaurant serving wood-fired seafood and fresh pastas.

Chef Joe Defeis’ food truck (Sloppie Joe’s Gourmet Grub), serving everyone’s favorite messy sandwich, now has a takeout location: Sloppie Joe’s Slop Stop (541 Central Ave, Yonkers; 914.573.6469). Besides a variety of Sloppy Joe sandwiches, there’s hand-cut fries, mac ’n’ cheese bites, milkshakes, and churros.
The longstanding and well-liked Greek restaurant in Astoria, Telly’s Taverna, has opened a Port Chester location (108 Abendroth Ave; 914.939.3333). Classic Hellenic fare straight from family-recipe cookbooks is what to expect, including grilled octopus; garlicky skordalia, saganaki (pan-fried kefalograviera cheese); moshari kokkinisto (Greek-style beef stew in a tomato sauce); myriad seasonal fish, such as red snapper, black sea bass, flounder, and porgy; Colorado lamb chops; and made-to-order spanakopita.

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana (1955 Central Ave, Yonkers; 914.961.8284) is offering its signature seasonal pie — fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, garlic, basil, grated cheese, and imported olive oil — through the end of this month. The coal-fired pizzeria, with 11 locations in the Northeast, was founded in 1925 and is famous for its thin crusts with bits of char.
