Here's What Event-Planning Maestro Jim Kirsch Loves About Westchester

Longford’s, the county’s fall foliage, and Untermyer Gardens are among Jim Kirsch’s beloved things.

Abigail Kirsch! What started as my mother and father’s catering company has become a staple brand in the county. Both my parents and the company have made me who I am today.

Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Exquisite cuisine — the absolute freshest you can get.

Container Store at Ridge Hill. We recently did their grand-opening event, where we used their products as vessels for our food — really fun!

Discovering new local trails for walks and hiking.

Eating at all of the amazing restaurants that are constantly opening throughout the county.

Food Bank for Westchester. An amazing organization that does wonderful things for the community. We’ve been partners with them for years.

Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. Working so close to it, it’s really impressive to watch the progress as it’s going up.

Hollywood vibes. Westchester County has so much filming happening at any given time. It’s always awesome to recognize the setting on a show or movie.

Ice Cream from Longford’s in Rye. Love the Graham Slam.

Jazz and music festivals at local parks.

Katonah Museum of Art. We’ve catered many events here, and it’s such an intriguing cultural center, right in our backyard.

(The) Loading Dock. I know this one is in Fairfield County, but it’s one of the most unique, modern venues in the area, with a real SoHo-loft vibe. (Of course, I’m a little partial!)

Tarrytown Music Hall. I’ve seen some great concerts there over the years.

New Roc City. Great IMAX theater!

Old Croton Aqueduct. Great place for biking.

Playland. I loved visiting there with my family when my daughters were young.

Quaintness of the villages throughout Westchester.

Rockefeller State Preserve, one of the best places around for walking trails.

Sleepy Hollow. Always so many things to do there around Halloween.

Tappan Hill Mansion. It’s the first venue my parents brought under the Abigail Kirsch brand, and still, to this day, its beauty and charm wows me every time I pull into work.

Untermyer Park & Gardens. I’ve only been once, some time ago, but it was so incredible.

Vivid colors of the fall foliage.

The Westchester. Great shopping and the newly renovated food-court area is quite impressive. We actually did the original grand opening.

X2O Xaviars on the Hudson. Delicious brunch menu, and the view is unbeatable.

Yonkers. Totally into Stew Leonard’s.

Zachys Wine & Liquor always has such an amazing wine selection. I try to stop by when I’m in town, to discover something new.
