Whether you subscribe to clean eating, the power of superfoods, or are just trying to be a little healthier, everyone knows juice bars and smoothie bowls are all the rage right now. Since February, Bronxville has been home to Root & Vine Juice Bar (4 Cedar St; 914.779.2905), founded by health-conscious couple Cristina and Ryan Knapp, along with Cristina’s dad, Mike Pellegrini. “[We] decided to open a juice bar together not only because we have a passion for health and wellness but also because we wanted to share this with the Bronxville community,” says Cristina.
Juices and shots come with tongue-in-cheek names, like the GetYoGreens (kale, spinach, celery, cucumber, and lemon) and the Don’t Sweat It (pineapple, mint, apple, lemon, turmeric, cayenne, and ginger). Nearly everything from the smoothies and acai bowls to the granola and baked goods — banana-nut bread, almond-brownie bowls, and blueberry-chia muffins — is made in-house. Kombucha and cold-brew coffee are on tap, and Paleo, gluten-free, and vegan options are available.
What sets this juice bar apart? Cristina says Root & Vine Juice Bar never uses any pre-made bases or artificial ingredients, and the family is committed supporting other local businesses. “Our goal is to provide the community with food and beverages that are healthy, but that taste great too,” she says. “Our passion is to make healthy eating a fun and attainable lifestyle for all.”
