The Greenburgh Nature Center’s Manor House reopened in February after the completion of a two-stage, $1 million renovation.
During the first stage, back in 2017, the Manor House received a new roof, followed by cosmetic changes to the exterior and interior of the building this past winter, thanks to dedicated funds from the Town of Greenburgh. The reno includes brand-new doors, windows, shingles, and ancillary pedestrian pathways leading up to the building. The center plans to continue updating the facility in upcoming years, including the addition of a new barn and classroom space to service their school programs.
Margaret Tijimos-Goldberg, executive director of the Greenburgh Nature Center, believes the renovation — which corresponds to the 100-year anniversary celebration of the center’s Manor House’s construction — is well anticipated and will captivate future visitors.
“There’s something that’s just so authentic about the experience [of Nature Center visitors], and the connection is so deep with our space,” says Goldberg. “We can’t wait for everyone in the community to see have we’ve grown — and we’re very excited about what’s yet to come!”
