From A To Z With College Of New Rochelle President Judith Huntington

Better know a college president

Amanda.
My firstborn, my “Mini Me,” and my partner in crime for shopping and theater in New York City.

Bradley, my incredible son, is a senior at Marist College and already an “IBMer” in a second-year internship there.

CNR. I am so proud to be the president of The College of New Rochelle. Our students are my inspiration and the personification of transforming lives through the power of education.

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Far from it! Some of my favorite restaurants are La Panetière in Rye, La Fontanella in Pelham, and Mulino’s of Westchester in White Plains.

Entrepreneurship. I am in awe of this generation of millennials who embody the entrepreneurial spirit. It’s a culture that CNR embraces whole heartedly.

Fall in Westchester—from apple picking and pumpkin carving to Halloween parades and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow ride!

Gym. I am the quintessential “gym rat.” I spin, row, lift weights, and cycle.

Horses. I began riding at 9 years old at Flying Arrow Stables in Eastchester and have been riding throughout Westchester ever since.

Italy. I’ve been on several major excursions to Italy, including the trip I took in 2012 for the elevation of His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan. Amanda and I were thrilled to have the Cardinal bless our rosaries.

Joanne, my sister, is an attorney in White Plains and a Pace Law School graduate. She is the smartest, most beautiful woman I know.

Kitchen. My kitchen is the epicenter of my home. I love to cook!

Leland Castle on CNR’s New Rochelle campus—home to the Castle Gallery—is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mount Vernon, where I was born and raised in a huge three-generation home. With six kids—three boys and three girls—we were like the Italian Brady Bunch.

New Rochelle. From Wykagyl in the north end to Glen Island on the south side, it’s a wonderfully diverse city and CNR is proud to call it “home.”

Opportunity. Education opens a world of opportunities and has the power to transform lives.

Pace University in Pleasantville, where I earned my undergrad degree (BBA), magna cum laude.

Quotes. One of my favorites, from Bon Jovi: “Map out your future, but do it in pencil. The road ahead is as long as you make it. Make it worth the trip.”

Ritz-Carlton’s 42 The Restaurant in White Plains—excellent food and the most phenomenal views.

Signature Bank, where I proudly serve on the board of directors. It is an exemplary model of solid corporate leadership and integrity.

Traditions. Family traditions, passed down to me by my mother and father, include a strong commitment to education, a solid work ethic, and love of family.

Ursulines. These visionary women of faith established the foundation from which CNR and our mission of Serviam—“I will serve”—evolved.

Vogue magazine. I have an insatiable appetite for fashion—a magnet that inevitably leads me to Bloomingdale’s and The Westchester on my way home!

Westlake High School, where I attended with County Executive Rob Astorino. Go, Wildcats!

X-chromosome. Women have two, which might explain why we are better at multitasking, a characteristic for which I am famous!

Yankees. Especially CNR’s good friend Mariano Rivera—someone determined to make an impact by dedicating his gifts and talents to helping others less fortunate.

Zzzz. Something I just don’t get enough of!
