A perfect Saturday afternoon is reading a good book (probably history) in my living room with my husband in front of a roaring fire.
Books. I just finished all 944 pages of Team of Rivals, the Lincoln bio. Doris Kearns Goodwin is amazing!
Copper Kettle Café in Hartsdale. The place is postage-stamp-sized, but the food from Chef Joe D’Angelo is off the charts.

DeCicco & Sons (above). I love to cook, and DeCicco in Ardsley has everything you need.
Eastchester Fish Market in Scarsdale. After getting cancer, I’m eating healthier, and fish is part of the program.
Frankie & Fanucci’s in Hartsdale. When I fall off the health wagon, I go here to indulge.
Golf. I’m a bit of an addict. Watch for me at Saxon Woods.
Hartsdale Wine Shop. Super-friendly staff who will help you find the right bottle.
iFLY, Yonkers. No, I haven’t done this, but I aspire to.
Jack White [of The White Stripes]. My favorite rocker… if we got married, I wouldn’t have to change my monogrammed bath towels.
Kykuit (above). I took my mom here a couple of years ago, but I still dream about the living room in this Rockefeller mansion.
Love cooking. My fire-engine-red KitchenAid mixer is my favorite appliance.
Memorial Sloan Kettering in Harrison. The people here took care of me through chemo — they are marvelous!
Next book… Lincoln in the Bardo, by George Saunders. Unusual approach to history.
On the money! Westchester’s public golf courses — golf at the right price. (I didn’t cover personal finance for nothing!)
Port Chester. One of my favorite spots for a night out. Great restaurants (see “Q”), The Capitol Theatre; what’s not to like?
Q Restaurant and Bar, Port Chester. Ask for their coconut cake. Dreamy!
RiverWalk Park at Tarrytown (above). How relaxing…
Saint George Bistro in Hastings-on-Hudson. Unbelievable snails.
Taconic Parkway. It’s a beautiful gateway to our home in the Berkshires.
Underrated. The personal qualities my grandma used to endorse: modesty and calm.
Very, very happy to live in the burbs of Westchester.
Westchester Greenhouses & Farm. I get a lot of our veggies here. Great kale.
X2O Xaviars on the Hudson in Yonkers. For me, it’s about the cool views.
Yaranush Mediterranean Foods. Middle Eastern food store in White Plains. Go for the Ottolenghi-inspired spices; stay for the baklava.
Zero Otto Nove in Armonk. My fave is the marinara pizza with anchovies. Good for you!
