A Mediterranean bistro in White Plains, a pita hotspot in Tarrytown, and more make the month delicious in the 914.

Mediterranean and Persian fare are on the menu at the recently opened Medi Bistro (50 Main St, White Plains; 914.946.1232; medi-bistro.com). “Medi Bistro celebrates the nostalgic cuisine of my childhood, when I watched my mother prepare the most delicious Persian dishes,” says owner Par Shakiban. “The secret to this sophisticated cuisine is the use of fresh ingredients, some of which are imported from the Middle East and India.” Dishes to try include dolmeh (vegetables, rice and herbs wrapped in grape leaves and topped with pomegranate sauce); khoresh bademjon (boneless lamb in herbed tomato sauce, topped with baked eggplant), chicken, pomegranate, and walnut stew; charbroiled Cornish hen with saffron basmati rice; and zoolbia (a crunchy dessert fritter topped with rose-water syrup and pistachios).

The Granola Bar of Rye (96 Purchase St; 914.709.4229; thegranolabar.com), with five Fairfield County locations, has two new signature coffee blends due to a partnership with Coffee of Grace. The minority-owned premium-coffee company highlights environmental stewardship and supports farmers by sourcing directly from co-ops in Rwanda, Peru, Guatemala, and Brazil. The blends are Moonlight Viennese Roast, with a flavor profile of toffee, honey caramel, fig jam, and toasted almonds, and Total Eclipse Espresso/Italian Roast, which tastes of fire-roasted marshmallows, Amaretto, and hints of dark caramel and sweet mesquite.
