City Hall’s Top Citizen

Share

ArtsWestchester. A great community partner; it helps bring art to the people of Westchester.

Bear Mountain Bridge. I have always loved the location and the view.

Cosmo’s Deli. I became a fan when working in Mamaroneck. Great food, great service.

Dunn’s Citgo. Nothing like finding a mechanic you can trust.

Ebersole Ice Rink. It was one of the first, and still is one of the few, municipally owned ice-skating rinks.

Fireworks on Independence Day. The whole city comes out for this event at White Plains High School.

George Washington’s Headquarters (Purdy House). This historic house served as Washington’s headquarters during the Battle of White Plains. The battle resulted in a draw but preserved the Continental Army and enabled Washington to fight on.

Hudson River. History, recreation, outstanding views — the majestic Hudson River has it all.

Italian Restaurants. Mulino’s, Francesco’s, La Bocca, Graziella’s, Ernesto’s, and Tre Angelina. What’s not to like?

JazzFest. September always sizzles in White Plains with our six-day celebration of jazz.

Kensico Dam. The dam fascinated me as a kid; I could not imagine how they built it. The park is like Westchester’s Central Park, with festivals and every kind of activity taking place.

White Plains Library. The Trove Children’s Library, The Edge Teen Library, and now, renovations starting on The Hub, to complete our library’s full transformation. Coffee is on the way!

Marching in White Plains’ St. Patrick’s Day Parade. As an American of Irish descent, there is nothing better.

New Year’s Eve in White Plains. The whole region comes to celebrate with us. This event gets bigger and better every year, and I get to hang out with News12’s Lisa Reyes!

Outdoor Arts Festival. Tibbits Park has served as home for this signature regional event featuring fine arts and crafts vendors for more than 50 years.

Playland. Once a year when I was a kid. I always loved it, and I still do. Hopefully, better days ahead — a real community asset.

Quality of Life. We are all so lucky to have such a high quality of life here in Westchester County. It’s a great place to raise a family.

Rockefeller Park. My favorite place to run, a real gem with every type of terrain you can imagine.

Staying power. Once you come to Westchester, it’s hard to leave, because of the many amenities offered: proximity to NYC, great schools, vibrant dining scene, amazing parks, open space, and so much more.

The Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze. More than 7,000 illuminated jack o’ lanterns each year. Wow!

Untermyer Gardens. A hidden treasure and one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Westchester County.

Volunteer NY! Westchester is lucky to have this amazing organization that focuses on the importance of giving back to our community.

White Plains Winterfest. An Old World holiday shopping experience in the heart of Downtown White Plains.

X-ray department at White Plains Hospital. The amazing staff throughout the hospital helped me tremendously when I was undergoing cancer treatment.

Yoga. It is incredible to watch hundreds of people practicing yoga at the White Plains’ Annual Outdoor Yoga Event on Court Street and to see a normally busy urban street transformed into a peaceful oasis.

Zip Car. No car? No problem! White Plains has Zip Cars available at several of our parking garages.
