Can You Name These Hollywood Icons Who Hail From Westchester High Schools?

To honor the commencement of a new school year, we took a stroll down Memory Lane — actually, through the halls of the Westchester high schools — to gather a roster of Hollywood royalty for you to identify. Can you name them?

1. Long before he famously donned a cowboy hat,
this Academy Award winner was a class officer and
part of the dramatics program at Archbishop Stepinac
High School (Class of ’56), where he also had a role in
the school’s basketball program and swim team.

2. Prior to starring alongside Meryl Streep, this
multi-Emmy winner was treading the boards at
John Jay High School (Class of ’78) en route to
more theatrics at SUNY Purchase. The versatile
character actor also writes cookbooks.

3. From Scarsdale High School’s graduating class
of 1979 came this bright young man who would
earn a reputation as one of TV’s greatest screenwriters.
He pursued writing and fine arts in high school before
earning a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University.
He is best known for his NBC prime-time drama,
which won 17 Emmys in seven seasons.

4. Before studying at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts,
this actor-writer-director was dreaming big from the halls
of Byram Hills High School (Class of ’99). Though her
father is a legendary actor-director himself, she became
a household word thanks to a Steven Spielberg franchise.

5. Born Alphonso D’Abruzzo, this seven-time Emmy
winner is an actor, director, screenwriter, and author
widely known for a starring role on a long-running and
beloved CBS sitcom. He played a key role in developing
the dramatics program during his days at Archbishop
Stepinac High School (Class of ’52).
