Searching for fresh, authentic, heat-and-serve Indian cuisine? Try the prepared foods section of your local grocery store. With recipes created by renowned chef/author Hari Nayak, Café Spice raises the bar for international food with an innovative approach to the quick-serve concept. Based in New Windsor, NY, the focus is on creating delicious, restaurant-quality products using wholesome ingredients, like freshly ground spices, antibiotic-free meats, and responsibly sourced produce.
Cofounders Sushil Malhotra and his son Sameer, both restaurant veterans, found a gap in the market when it came to grab-and-go Indian cuisine. When they launched their first line of prepared foods in 2003, “no one outside the restaurant business had ever brought fresh Indian food to life,” says Sameer.
Café Spice’s mission is to provide customers with convenience, without sacrificing quality or the unique, authentic flavors that make Indian food so popular. Some of their mouthwatering dishes include butter-chicken meatballs with saffron basmati rice, chicken tikka masala with saffron rice, and channa masala with lemon rice. Many of their savory dishes are also vegetarian and gluten-free.
Café Spice products are available at DeCicco & Sons, Whole Foods, Stew Leonard’s, and food courts, including at Grand Central Station. They are also served at various universities, hospitals, and corporate dining areas.
