Hot dogs on the grill are great, but in Westchester, there’s no summer tradition more revered than a buttery, griddled dog from Walter’s slathered in its signature tangy mustard. If you can’t make it to Walter’s (or would just prefer to have Walter’s come to you), you’re in luck: The Warrington family launched a second Walter’s food truck in April, which (along with its predecessor) you can rent out for private events. Look for it throughout the summer at popular festivals—including our Burger & Beer Blast on June 9—and on Wednesdays at the White Plains Farmers’ Market. Even if you live nearby, it’s worth seeking out the truck for the brand-new Puffy Dog: a single dog with two (or a double dog with four) smashed-and-grilled potato puffs stuffed into the bun. It’s a meaty, crispy, creamy marriage of two of Walter’s most popular items, and it’s available only on their vaunted trucks.
