Creative Block

The Katonah Museum of Art will host not one but three block parties this month on select Thursdays and Saturdays. With gourmet food trucks, drinks, and musical performances across several genres, the KMA Block Party knows how to celebrate summer. Eat, drink, dance, and take in the beautiful museum grounds, rain or shine.

Based on the classic novel by Natalie Babbitt, the show follows young Winnie Foster and the mysterious Tuck family she stumbles upon in the forest. Historic Horror

Four decades after its release, audiences are still getting goosebumps from Ridley Scott’s Alien. Watch Sigourney Weaver and Tom Skerritt come face-to-face with a terrifying creature as they struggle to make their way back to Earth aboard the Nostromo. As part of their Summer Late Nights Series, The Jacob Burns Film Center will screen the original theatrical cut that both freaked out and fascinated fans back in 1979.

Go Phish

What better way to introduce your kids to the glory of psychedelic rock than with Phish’s classic tunes? Tribute performer Uncle Ebenezer’s Phish for Kids promises child-friendly jams as he joins the Rock and Roll Playhouse series at Port Chester’s The Capitol Theatre. Songs like “Bounding Around the Room” and “The Divided Sky” will lead the rockers-in-training through an afternoon of music, movement, and a heaping helping of fun.

Sinfully Funny

For more than three decades, comic Sinbad has had audiences laughing from the confines of their living rooms through HBO specials, Comedy Central specials, and even his own reality show. Ranked one of the “100 Greatest Standups of all Time” by Comedy Central, Sinbad is a force to be reckoned with. Now, he’s hitting The Ridgefield Playhouse for an evening of cutting comedy.

Thomas takes to the stage to celebrate the release of his first album in four years, Chip Tooth Smile, but diehard fans will be treated to hits from throughout the Grammy winner’s  20-plus-year career, like “If You’re Gone,” “She’s So Mean” and “Lonely No More.”

Beach Blast

Wouldn’t it be nice to see The Beach Boys in concert? Even as summer comes to a close, you can still have fun, fun, fun with this iconic band, which has been a radio mainstay since the ’60s. Like many of today’s giants, the Beach Boys got their start in a garage, but this summer they’ll hit the stage at The Ridgefield Playhouse for an unforgettable night of their signature surf rock.
