Wine quantities made simple

When you’re hosting a wedding or party, thinking of wine can be a daunting task! The biggest question is ‘how much wine should I serve?’ The Wine Cellar is here to help, with 3 easy steps.

Step 1: Determine how much wine you need—Typically, assume each guest will consume aabout 2.5 glasses of wine. If you have a mix of wine, beer, and liquor drinkers, you can reduce to two glasses or less.

Step 2: Do a little math—We advise multiplying your guest count by 2.5 (consumed glasses) then divide by 5 (number of glasses in a bottle). This will give you the total number of bottles. 100 people x 2.5 = 250 / 5 = 50 bottles. Then apply the 60/40 rule. People tend to drink more white wine; so, 60% of your total wine count should be white wine and 40% should be red wine.

Step 3: Go shopping—Visit The Wine Cellar Rye Ridge and leave the rest to us! We will help you choose the perfect mix of handcrafted, award-winning wines, discounted up to 50% off every day!
