Since the practice first opened in 1958, Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York (BSSNY) has treated thousands in need of neurological solutions. Now their first-rate care has become even more accessible. BSSNY’s team of renowned doctors has announced that they will accept major commercial insurance plans going forward.
The president of BSSNY, Dr. John M. Abrahams, had this to say about the news: “BSSNY is proud to offer their services to their patients as participating providers. In the past, insurance companies made it difficult to join their networks — but because of our size and clinical research, we have successfully negotiated with most plans that satisfy both the providers and insurance company goals.”
Regardless of the insurance used, BSSNY will continue to provide the high standard of care its patients are accustomed to. The change serves to speed up and ease the administrative process. It allows patients covered by an accepted insurance plan to focus on their health rather than the paperwork.
The newly-accepted insurance providers in question are the most substantial in the industry, including Cigna, Aetna, Oxford, MVP, United Healthcare, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
“In the past,” said Dr. Abrahams, “we were limited in patient referrals because we were out of network. This allows BSSNY to offer all of our specialty services to our local community and beyond.”
At BSSNY, dozens of highly-skilled doctors work tirelessly to give specialized care for a variety of neurological conditions, including:
- Cerebrovascular (aneurysm, stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, etc.)
- Concussions
- Epilepsy
- Facial and Cranial Pain
- Headaches (migraines, cluster, tension)
- Neuropathic Pain
- Pain Management (cancer-related, thoracic, lumbar spine, myofascial)
- Pediatric Neurosurgery
- Plastic Surgery (reconstructive and cosmetic)
- Scoliosis
- Spinal Issues
- Tumors (brain, cerebral base, head and neck, pituitary, acoustic)
Not only does BSSNY want to expand access for those in need, they wish to do it quickly. Healthcare patients are too often forced to wait months for consultation and treatment. BSSNY always aims to expedite the process, and the new insurance provider agreements are another way to do that.
Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York is headquartered at its main office in White Plains. After nearly 65 years in business, they are a staple medical institution in the Hudson Valley and for neurological patients across the country. They have expanded care in Rockland county with a new office at 10 Waldron Avenue in Nyack.
BSSNY strives to have the most advanced, state-of-the-art equipment and treatment options available to its patients. Even still, the practice is always looking for ways to evolve. In addition to newly accepting major insurance plans, they recently opened The Center for Cognitive Health, a groundbreaking one-stop-shop that combines neuropsychology, neurology, and neuropsychologist to create a streamlined and complete patient experience.
