“At JustinTime Baseball, we provide a positive learning environment where children are supported and encouraged to try new things without the fear of failure,” said Justin Sherman, founder of JustinTime Baseball. “We not only build and develop the fundamental skills of baseball and softball—we work to instill confidence and independence in our students through individualized instruction.”
JustinTime Baseball, founded in June 2020, offers year-round baseball and softball developmental programs for children aged 3-12 years. JustinTime Baseball’s Rookie baseball programs emphasize skill development and instructional gameplay, supporting the needs of local Little Leagues and Recreation Departments. Instructional Game Play is a popular offering for children aged 5-9 years: students are first grouped by age and skill/experience level, then receive real-time individualized instruction while playing the game.
“Instructional Game Play presents so many opportunities for coachable moments,” continued Mr. Sherman. “Throughout the game, our staff stops the play to teach specific concepts of the game and talk about what to do with the baseball in that given situation. Our fundamental approach teaches baseball while simultaneously building character.”
Students can take advantage of the off-season to learn or improve their game by enrolling in fall and winter programs held at multiple facilities in the area. Fall programs include pitching instruction, batting instruction, private lessons, and the Rookie program, held at the Mt. Vernon Underdome. Winter programs begin in late January with instructional courses for children aged 4-7 years and instructional gameplay for children aged 8-9 years with first-year kid pitch.
JustinTime Baseball focuses on the growth of the overall child, something that Mr. Sherman fully embraces. “Our mission is to help our students reach their full potential, both in the game of baseball and in life in general,” said Mr. Sherman. “Sports provide an incredible opportunity to teach kids so many life lessons and valuable life skills. Coaching a child in baseball and having them build their confidence by overcoming obstacles in the process is a win-win.”
JustinTime Baseball was founded in 2020 by Coach Justin Sherman. Mr. Sherman, a long-time baseball player, attended Purchase College, where he was Captain of the baseball team and later served as a coach. Mr. Sherman earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Manhattanville College and is a frequent speaker on the subject of child engagement and the management of children during the game.
