Q. What distinguishes your dental practice from others?
A. Advanced Dentistry of Westchester offers the latest in dental care well before others in the profession, including minimally invasive techniques such as laser “no shot-no drill” filings, CAD-CAM same-day metal-free crowns, and computer-guided implants. Our practice is not your typical dental office and our response to the current global pandemic will be just as extraordinary in providing services that are safe, comfortable, and effective.
Q. What aspects of your background helps make your practice exceptional?
A. Both Dr. Kenneth S. Magid and Dr. Sabrina Magid-Katz have been named Top Dentists by Westchester Magazine and Consumer’s Research Council of America and are faculty of Honors Aesthetics at New York University. Dr. Magid is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, the highest honor in dentistry afforded to only 4% of dentists worldwide, and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, offered to only 2% of dentists in the U.S. Dr. Magid-Katz was named one of “Westchester’s Rising 40 Stars Under 40” for leadership in treating deaf and hard-of-hearing patients and as a lecturer and member of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine with extensive experience identifying and treating snoring and sleep apnea.
Q. What steps is your practice taking to keep patients safe during the current COVID-19 crisis?
A. To ensure patients’ safety, we are implementing changes to almost every aspect of our practice. Many of the changes involve technology and equipment that remove and treat the aerosols created during procedures and maintaining “surgically clean air.” We also plan to incorporate testing for the virus as testing becomes faster and more available.
Q. How will dental treatments be affected by these changes?
A. To minimize patients’ exposure, treatments will be completed in as few visits as possible. We will continue to use “no shot” “no drill” lasers for many cavities, CAD-CAM single-visit crowns, and CAD computer- guided implants that help keep treatment visits to a minimum. During treatment, a new extra oral suction will effectively remove and disinfect the aerosol created by our instruments and every area is equipped with devices that continually scrub and disinfect the air in the room.
Q. What differences will patients notice when they visit your practice?
A. Patients will notice differences in scheduling and the procedures when they arrive at the office. At the time of their appointment, every patient will respond to a questionnaire to evaulate their possible exposure to COVID-19. Instead of using the reception room, patients will wait in their cars in the parking lot until they are called on their cell phone. Each patient will have their temperature and pulse oxygen level taken, will be provided hand sanitizer, and asked to wear masks or face coverings at all times while not being treated. To minimize possible COVID-19 exposure, the practice is reserving the first treatment times of the day for patients who are over 60 or immunocompromised. Additional time will be added to each appointment to avoid interaction among patients and for the complete sanitizing of treatment rooms and other areas.
