Q. How can I take care of my skin during winter?
A. Don’t let the cold, dry winter air spoil your new year’s resolution for healthy and beautiful skin. Here are my top three tips to help you maintain your skin during frigid winter days:

  1. Apply sunscreen daily. Even on dreary days, UV rays break through the clouds and can cause skin damage.
  2. Adapt your skincare regimen. Use a fragrance-free moisturizing gel cleanser, then apply hyaluronic serum followed by a heavy moisturizing cream.
  3. Moisturize throughout the day. In cold weather, a lightweight cream or ointment is a better choice than lotion.

Q. What can nutrition help with? 
A. Nutrition goes way beyond weight loss — it can help with emotional stress, building super immunity, auto-immune conditions, diabetes, heart disease, support cancer treatment, sleeping issues, moodiness, cravings, and neurological issues to name a few.

Q. Other than acupuncture, is there anything else that can help with injuries and pain?

Q. Can we get enough nutrients from our food?
A. Unfortunately, due to soil depletion and lack of healthy nutrients in our soil, we no longer can receive sufficient vitamins and minerals from our food. This is especially true if we do not either consume organically grown foods or purchase our foods from local farmers. This is a significant reason why people’s immune systems are getting weaker and people are getting sicker.

Q. What’s the ONE tip you would share with every patient to kick start a healthy new year?

A. The ONE tip I would share with every patient to kick off a healthy new year would be to stay mindful of food safety. If you are fortunate enough to have a gathering of family and friends in this age of COVID, remember to keep surfaces, utensils, and hands clean; separate raw and cooked foods; make sure you cook meats thoroughly by using a food thermometer and chill correctly — refrigerate perishables within two hours and check your refrigerator to insure it is at 40 degrees or lower. Q. How can I get proactive about my health?
A. The start of a new year is the perfect time to take stock of your overall well-being and prioritize your health once again. According to the American Heart Association, nearly half of American adults have high blood pressure. This develops slowly over time and can lead to heart attack, stroke, and other serious health threats. What’s more concerning, most people with high blood pressure don’t know they have it. Your physician can help you understand the risk factors and get you on the path to good health — so make sure you are getting checked annually. Q. What is one easy strategy to keep my heart and body healthy?
A. Avoid processed foods and eat fresh! Processed foods tend to have higher levels of sugar and salt, which can exacerbate diabetes and high blood pressure. Think about the layout of your grocery store — most fresh foods are found around the walls of the store. So, if you avoid the middle aisles and shop the perimeter, your cart will fill up with fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, and meat. Q. I’m thinking of starting a family. What do I need to know?
A. First, timing is everything — especially when most women have just a three- to five-day window every month to get pregnant. Today, there are tons of apps that can help you chart changes in your menstrual cycle and identify the ideal time to try for a baby. If you have been attempting to get pregnant for over a year, your doctor can test you and your partner for infertility issues. Certain medical conditions can also affect your ability to get pregnant, so it’s always good to consult with an expert. A good doctor is a must from the start. They will be your most valuable resource during your pregnancy. The birth process is extremely personal, so you will want to find an OB/GYN who will be your partner and respect your personal preferences in the delivery room. Q. What are the most effective anti-aging wellness strategies?
A. Everyone wants to feel healthier and younger this year! Luckily, simple behaviors, done consistently, can have a major anti-aging benefits and affect the way we look, move, and feel.

  • Meditation is Mandatory! Meditation can be practiced in a gazillion ways, such as: simply focusing on your breath, allowing yourself to become 100% immersed in a favorite solo activity, engaging in progressive relaxation by shifting your awareness to different body parts, and of course, with the help of meditation apps and coaches.
  • Yoga is for Every Body! Linking movement and breath triggers the relaxation response, decreases stress, releases pain, and strengthens the body.
  • Resistance Rules! Frail is an F-word. A full body strengthening program can help you gain muscle mass and strength, and increase mobility and metabolism.
  • Eat Elitely! Proper nutrition is essential. By eating whole foods of the highest quality, including proteins, produce, healthy fats, and low glycemic starches, we feel better and are less likely to crave sugar and processed foods.

Forget quick fixes — they never produce long-term results. If you get stuck, hire a professional wellness coach to guide you.
