What is Restorative Dentistry?
Restorative Dentistry is a Dental specialty that focuses on repairing or replacing teeth to improve oral health and chewing function. It is often referred to as prosthodontic Dentistry. This procedure includes fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, and dental implants.
What are the latest techniques in Restorative Dentistry?
One of the newest tools on the market in Restorative Dentistry is the Solea Laser and CEREC CAD/CAM system. Solea is a C02 laser that vaporizes enamel and soft tissue virtually pain free replacing the needle, drill, scalpel, and sutures. CEREC or (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) is a method of creating crowns in the Dental office.
Why should you consider seeing a dentist who has this technology?
At our office, patients complete their dental treatment with fewer dental appointments because of this state of the art equipment here! Multiple filling can be completed in less time and crowns can be completed in a single visit .Our patients do not need to take unnecessary time from their schedules for extra appointments. This technology and material is so advanced that it promotes the restorations to last longer than the average life span. Treatment here is also done by a Prosthodontist who is a specialist in restorative dentistry. Patients here have saved significantly since their restorations have lasted over 20 years.
What are the benefits of Solea?
Fillings and gum procedures can be done anesthesia-free, blood-free, and pain-free. Healing time is cut in half on gum procedures because of the effectiveness of this laser. Multiple fillings can be done in the same visit in different areas because no anesthesia is necessary. You leave our dental office without the numbness and get right back to work or whatever plans for the day. Children and adults here are happy to have their fillings done without getting a needle!
What are the benefits of CAD/CAM restorations?
Because CEREC crowns are milled in our office as you wait, there is no need for a temporary crown, and the finished crown is cemented same day. No need for multiple appointments. It uses a scan with software to capture images which designs and mills the crown in minutes eliminating messy impressions that cause gagging. The advanced CEREC ceramic material is extremely strong and esthetic allowing a more natural appearance. Since it is based on a detailed scan the crowns have a precise fit which will protect the underlying tooth promoting it to last longer.
