Community Housing Innovations (CHI) provides housing and human services that support social and economic independence to thousands of families and individuals in Westchester, Hudson Valley, Long Island, and New York City. CHI’s vision is to end generational poverty and foster upward mobility by ensuring that all families and individuals live in quality housing, and have a home of their own, and a job to support them. CHI believes that quality, affordable housing provides a firm foundation for a prosperous life. CHI operates numerous emergency shelters, affordable/supportive housing, and permanent housing residences throughout the New York region. In addition, CHI’s Homeownership Program helps people achieve the dream of owning a home — the stepping stone to upward mobility and economic independence. CHI also operates a Foreclosure Prevention Counseling Program for homeowners experiencing financial distress; Eviction Prevention Services to prevent eviction, one of the primary causes of homelessness; and Financial Literacy. CHI plans to expand CHI Realty, an independent nonprofit brokerage focused on placing homeless individuals and families into permanent housing.
