I can’t think of any other profession as satisfying as Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics,” says Merissa Blais, DDS. “It’s not just about the teeth, it’s about creating balanced faces, proper function, and beautiful, radiant smiles at any age! A new smile is the start of a new life chapter.” She treats both children and adults to the highest standard, utilizing the newest technology and focusing on the whole patient. “Every patient is treated with the utmost care. We have a very gentle, friendly touch and a ‘home away from home environment’ that eases any fear,” she says.
As part of Dr. Blais’ individualized orthodontic treatment, she sees children as young as age four (if need be) focusing on proper growth and development, to teenagers and adults who may want the results of braces without the look of metal. Dr. Blais thoroughly educates her patients on the relationship between facial form and function and the relationship of facial form to airway related problems, such as mouth breathing, sleep apnea, hyperactivity, and sometimes misdiagnosed ADD/ADHD in children.
Dr. Blais trained at Columbia School of Dental Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving high honors. Dr. Blais specializes in both early interceptive and adult interdisciplinary orthodontics. Respectful of her patients’ schedules, Dr. Blais follows a no-wait policy for appointments and offers evening hours to minimize school/work absence. She aims to make the entire orthodontic process as smooth and comfortable as possible. As Dr. Blais explains, “In between creating gorgeous smiles and great bites, there’s always time to laugh!”
