Decorating Den Interiors/Mayari Designs LLC Creates The ‘Home or Office of Your Dreams’

Julie Shadrin, CEO of Decorating Den Interiors/Mayari Designs LLC, sees interior design as an artistic medium. “It’s no different than a composer creating an opera to delight the senses or an artist painting a portrait. All the elements of interior design come together to create a work of art,” she says. “Each piece is a work of art in itself—the furniture, fabrics, lighting, wallpaper, rugs, paintings, accessories—they all come together to create a space with the power to captivate an audience and produce a unique experience for everyone that enters the space.”

As a Decorating Den Interiors franchise, Shadrin has direct relationships with 135 suppliers in the company’s LIVV Home CollectionTM of fine furniture, custom window treatments, wall and floor coverings, accessories, lighting and even closet systems.

“Our main focus is to save you time and offer the whole package of the best available options,” says Shadrin. She starts with a thorough investigation of your needs and desires, including how tall you are, how you like to sit on the couch, what types of things you will do in the space, and they exam every item for the best look and function. “Since we have access to so many vendors, your options are pretty much unlimited. I believe everybody should have good quality furniture and design. I accommodate different budgets because pleasing interior design is not exclusive to the wealthy.”

How Shadrin and Her Team Work

The process begins with a complimentary onsite visit to your home or office to create a floor plan and determine what items are needed based on your budget. Once you decide to proceed, two or three options for design are presented in a follow-up meeting and vendors are suggested. Shadrin offers samples of fabrics, colors and textures through 3-D computer presentations or mood boards to give you a visual and tactile experience of the products.

“Many people haven’t fully developed their own sense of style or taste, so we can expose them to different choices and help them discover what their look will be. People can feel overwhelmed by the size or scope of an interior decorating project or are just too busy and want a professional to handle everything. Those with good taste and a good budget are often comfortable hiring professionals, but our services are accessible for everyone,” she says.

“There’s really nothing we can’t tackle—from custom cabinetry to a full renovation of a kitchen or bathroom to finding the best sofa for your living room—and we can help with one room, an entire home, creating (or improving) a corporate office setting, or assist with finishing touches.”

One of a Kind—Created to Express Your Style

Once choices are made and product orders are placed, an installation date is set and regular updates are provided on progress until completion. “It’s all about having a good solid plan in the beginning, and the finished project is very personalized,” says Shadrin. “We do a full inventory of what’s needed—do you have pets, are there small children or seniors living in the house, is the seating right for your physique—and nothing is off-limits for customization.”

Customization of window treatments and fabrics can create a unique product that no one else has, she adds. “It comes down to fabric, size, height, shape, and you can be your own designer. I love educating my clients about ‘what’s under the hood,’ and it breaks my heart to see clients overpay for inferior quality furniture when they get misled by fancy marketing,” she says. Shadrin visits her vendors’ manufacturing plants to witness the manufacturing process first-hand to gain a deep appreciation for all the steps in the fabrication process.

Shadrin, who was drawn to interior design as a child and has been decorating her friends’ homes for many years, is originally from the Ukraine and was raised in Brooklyn. Fifteen years ago, she founded a medical supply company: In 2020, her company was one of the first responders to Governor Cuomo’s plea for PPE during the pandemic. “I was able to manufacture and transport 500,000 face coverings from China to New York City during the height of the pandemic—and trust me when I tell you this was no easy feat!”

Now this rising interior design star’s tenacity, character and work ethic—and her belief that anything is possible—shine bright in her interior design company. “I love to help people and bring these qualities to my interior design projects for my Decorating Den clients,” Shadrin says. “Though I take it very seriously, I believe interior design should be fun. Your space should reflect your taste and lifestyle, and my mission is to bring joy into your life by creating the home of your dreams!”

Decorating Den Interiors is North America’s leading in-home decorating service and largest home furnishings and interior design franchise company. Franchisees progress through an extensive qualifying process and complete the company’s Professional Decorating and Sales School other training prior to opening their doors.
