Yumble is a prepared foods service catered to kids that makes life easier for parents and mealtimes fun for everyone.

Joanna Parker was finding it challenging to get healthy meals on the table every day. The mom of three kids did not want to turn mealtime into a battle either, struggling to find the balance of meals she felt good about and ones her children wanted to eat. The Harrison native created an anonymous post on a Facebook mommy group, determined to find out if anyone else was having the same struggle. Parker offered up a solution: She’d cook for someone else’s children, trying out new and nutritious takes on recipes while all but eliminating cooking time for busy parents. Seven years ago, in that Facebook group, the tinder of interest sparked the flame that would become Yumble.

Focusing on whole grains, fruits, veggies, and high-quality proteins, the kid-friendly weekly meal subscription service Yumble aims to keep children excited about mealtime. Read on to find out more about Harrison native and cofounder Joanna Parker (who appeared on Shark Tank in December 2018 and negotiated a deal with Shark Bethenny Frankel) and her growing business.

“We’ve learned over the years that the easiest and most effective way of making mealtime actually fun and enjoyable is by empowering kids.”

Yumble (yumblekids.com) puts meal planning in your child’s hands, each week letting them pick out ethically sourced meals delivered to your doorstep. Plans range from four meals a week to 12 meals and include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options (e.g., turkey sausage and eggs, sesame sunbutter noodles and chicken, sweet potato pierogi with veggie-gravy green beans, and cinnamon-vanilla apple snack poppers). Parents save time out of a busy schedule while being assured their children are eating well. For kids, the meal service is almost like a game. “We’ve learned over the years that the easiest and most effective way of making mealtime actually fun and enjoyable is by empowering kids,” says Parker. “We want there to be something interactive and engaging.”

With a menu that rotates monthly, kids can enjoy their favorite meals without feeling repetitive in their options — or even better, expand their palates. In addition offering wholesome meals, Yumble runs the gamut of providing options for children with allergies and dietary restrictions. As for Parker’s children, the reason Yumble exists, they’re old enough now to get in on the action. “My kids are always coming to us with suggestions or thoughts, things they think might be fun menu items, and they serve as critical taste testers for us,” says Parker. “It’s definitely a family affair.”
