It’s one thing to boast about your new driver, but now you can prove it’s a bomber with one of the best golf equipment deals on the market this spring. Arccos, the cutting-edge folks who brought you the revolutionary no-touch-no-fuss performance tracking system that pairs with your mobile phone, has teamed up with Cobra-Puma to offer their new Arccos Driver device free with the purchase of any of Cobra’s King family of drivers. That’s a savings of $80.
Arccos Driver automatically detects and records every drive you hit, making some really remarkable and fun things possible. You can compare your drives to your buddies’ or to those of every Arccos-equipped player who ever played the courses you play—hole by hole with the “King of the Hole” program. Want to level the playing field between young flat-bellies and yourself? The new Arccos Driver “Crowns” program calculates a handicap-like number for driving distance and accuracy so everyone in your group can compete for longest drive.
You can also use the Arccos Driver for some serious game improvement, too. As Arccos President Sal Syed says, “We’re bringing the personal data revolution to golf.” The information you compile every time you use the driver will tell you your actual distance off the tee—not the one you imagine you hit. You can also see your shot shape and direction tendencies, invaluable information that will help you set up to hit more fairways when you’re on the tee box.
And, because the Arccos data is available for individual holes, you’ll be better able to develop the best strategies for courses you play often. Is that fairway bunker in range? How many times have you carried it? How often do you make the dogleg on that pesky par-four? Knowing the real probabilities—not what you hope for—can take some serious strokes off your game. These actual screen shots from a recent round I played at Ridgewood CC give just a taste of the game-improvement data you have at your fingertips.
Once you’re off the tee and ready for your approach, Arccos Driver also serves as an advanced GPS system for more than 35,000 courses worldwide. It’s right on your phone so you don’t need a separate device to check distances with pinpoint accuracy.
Good news for Android users: Arccos Driver and the complete Arccos System are now compatible with your non-iOS phone.
But what about the Cobra King driver? You can choose from three models, the King F6, King LTD, and King LTD Pro, starting at $350 on the street as part of the Arccos offer. I sampled the F6 with the two-position center-of-gravity weight system set up to produce a higher launch angle. The club also has eight adjustable loft settings to further fine-tune your drives. I was very happy with the results from the Cobra Speed Channel around the perimeter of the face, which minimizes face thickness and increases ball speed for greater distance.
Best of all? I could immediately memorialize every drive I hit with it on the Arccos Driver system.
