The Yonkers Fire Department, along with Road Kings of NY and other participants, will gather at Croton Gorge Park this April 24 to enjoy a 25 mile motorcycle ride through Westchester County, as part of the eighth annual Hogs4Hope: Falls to River Run fundraiser. The ride will end at JFK Marina & Park, where a festival open to all surrounding communities will consist of activities for children of all ages, raffles, live music, vendors, and a pig roast.
Ken Greiger, this year’s event organizer, has noticed participation grow every year, and expects a large turnout this time as well.
“It’s special to see the families get away for a couple of hours and enjoy the day,” says Greiger.
This annual event has raised nearly $100,000 since its inaugural year in 2013, and aims to raise funds for The Ronald McDonald House, which provides support for pediatric cancer patients and their families.
Hogs4Hope also aims to raise awareness for the Aidan Jack Seeger Foundation (AJS), established to address the need for newborn screening in regards to the genetic disorder Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). They help provide financial support to families of children with ALD and fund research efforts that will discover new treatments, and ultimately a cure, for ALD.
When Elisa Seeger, from AJS, joined last year’s fundraiser, the organization donated entry wristbands with the AJS foundation logo on them, says Greiger.
“It was special for all of us to see hundreds of people with the AJS logo on their wrist, further creating awareness for their cause.”
Registration will begin at 9 am and close at 11 am at Croton Gorge Park, located at 451 Yorktown Road in Croton-on-Hudson, and the barbecue will take place at noon at JFK Marina & Park, located off Warburton Avenue at John F. Kennedy Memorial Drive.
The cost for riders is $25, for passengers $20 and for admission into JFK Marina is $25.
