The fifth annual WMC Golf Invitational teed off this week at Trump Golf Links Ferry Point, the first of four venues where 18 teams will vie for honors to be awarded at the concluding dinner August 21. In addition to the Trump course in the Bronx, the four-golfer teams will play a round each at Morefar in Brewster, Quaker Ridge, and Winged Foot.
This marks the fifth year of the extended golf outing, which raises money for the Westchester Medical Center Foundation. To date, the invitational tournament has generated over $1 million that goes toward numerous projects and programs at the Westchester Medical Center, which coincidentally celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

“It’s become quite an event,” says Bill Bave, Jr., a Winged Foot member and long-time supporter of the WMC Foundation. “There’s a real following that signs up very quickly and there are some very good golfers in the tournament.” Bave points out that the winning team takes home a valuable prize: gratis entry in the following year’s tournament, which is worth $15,000.
The real winners, though, are the patients of the Westchester Medical Center. “Funds raised are invested in projects like the new Caregiver Center in Westchester Medical Center’s recently-renovated and expanded Main Concourse,” explains Zubeen Shroff, Chairman of the Westchester Medical Center Foundation. “The center supports patient families caring and advocating for loved ones at Westchester Medical Center through special programs and access to information and resources. This vital service, and other advanced care enhancements including the acquisition of state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and expansion of services, are all possible due to the participation and generosity of Invitational players, sponsors and other supporters.”
