Make Some Noise for Local Healthcare Workers Tonight at 7

White Plains is organizing residents at 7 p.m. to show community love in a live at-home and online campaign of appreciation.

Westchesterā€™s unwavering commitment to supporting its healthcare and emergency workers has been one of the standout themes of the COVID-19 crisis since itā€™s outset. From donations of supplies to making sure ICU staffs are well-fed and feel appreciated, county care centers and media have been flooded with outpourings of public backing.

Now, the City of White Plains is organizing a massive demonstration of this support, calling in donations, artwork, messages of thanks, and a massive public display at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3. Hereā€™s how you can join in.

ā€œThese are extraordinary times,ā€ the hospital says in a statement. ā€œThe staff at White Plains Hospital (WPH) and every hospital throughout the county are doing everything they can to protect our community and help control the spread of this virus.Ā Everyone is asking how can they help.ā€

To that end, the city has started up a three-fold campaign to rally the Westchester community behind its healthcare professionals. Those looking to make a quick monetary donation can do so at the hospitalā€™s official COVID-19 Relief Fund, which includes an itemized breakdown of the costs for various desperately needed supplies and equipment. To donate supplies directly, call 914.849.GIVE or email wphcmail@wphospital.org.

WPH is also asking for messages of thanks and support to lift the spirits of the healthcare workers fighting on the diseaseā€™s front lines. Even just a quick note or a drawing from a child can have a huge effect on the mental wellbeing and spirits of the nurses, doctors, and first responders working to keep Westchester healthy. Residents can go to www.wphospital.org/communitylove to download a WPH frame to draw a picture, jot down a few words of thanks, or get as creative as they want. Artwork can then be shared on social media with the hashtag #WPHCommunityLove or emailed to wphcmail@wphospital.org.

Finally, White Plains residents ā€” or anyone; letā€™s make this big ā€” can show their support for the hospital tonight, Friday, April 3 at 7 p.m. WPH and White Plains Mayor Tom Roach are asking everyone to literally make some noise to show their gratitude. ā€œClap, blow a whistle, honk your horns, wave your #WPHCommiunityLove signs, or do whatever you can to show you are thankful for everyone who is working to help our community during this time,ā€ WPH says.
