A leading Westchester medical center garners national acclaim, with not one, but multiple top rankings on best hospitals lists.
Out of 148 hospitals in the nation, and four in New York State, White Plains Hospital was the only one in Westchester County to make Money’s National Best Hospitals list.
“It is an honor to be listed among the best hospitals in the country,” says White Plains Hospital President and CEO Susan Fox.
If you’re wondering how each hospital earned its spot on the list, we’re here to tell you. Leapfrog Group, a healthcare non-profit, has been assessing hospitals for over 20 years. It assembled more than 2,200 hospitals for the inaugural Best Hospital List, then began narrowing it down.
After retrieving data from 39 performance metrics, Leapfrog reviewed each hospital’s data across seven categories. The categories include inpatient care management, adult and pediatric complex surgeries, pediatric care, medication safety, maternity care, outpatient procedures, and infections.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, White Plains Hospital has also been recognized by the U.S News & World Report as a Best Regional Hospital in 2022/23. It is the only hospital in the county to do so for four years in a row.
“We continue to invest in our community as a way to provide local patients with access to world-class physicians, state-of-the-art technology, and an array of advanced programs and services that were historically only available outside out region,” Fox notes.
On top of that, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) gave the hospital a five-star hospital rating, which is the highest distinction given by the CMS. White Plains Hospital is the only hospital in Westchester to receive this high of a rating.
Looking ahead, White Plains Hospital has exciting news for the community. This summer it will unveil a biplane angiography suite for staff to administer breakthrough treatment for stroke patients in addition to other procedures.
