What to Do This Weekend: July 29-31, 2016

A roundup of what Westchester has to offer over the next three days

Feel like the summer’s flying by? Make the most of these final few July days by taking in a lighted boat show on the water or checking out a top-rated political comedy act making its way through the New York metro area, among other activities we recommend.

Back to Zero, Copper Face Jacks, White Plains

Copper Face Jacks Irish Pub is serving up a double dose of entertainment this Saturday with live music and major specials on drinks. Sip a few $4 gin and tonics while grooving to alternative Pleasantville band Back 2 Zero, who will be performing favorites off their eclectic new EP, In Other Words.

Lighted Boat Parade, New Rochelle Harbor, New Rochelle
This Saturday, dozens of lighted boats will cut across an ink-black sky while onlookers enjoy their trek from Hudson Park to Neptune Park. Waterfront favorites Patsy’s Pizzeria and Dudley’s Parkview will be open until 10 should spectators crave a late-night indulgence. The event is completely free and promises to be a weekend favorite.

Unconventionally Funny presented by Laughing Liberally, Purpl, Hastings-on-Hudson
Timed perfectly after the Republican and Democratic Conventions, New York’s longest-running political comedy show takes to the Hudson Valley. Funnyman Scott Blakeman leads an accolade-ridden cast in a smart, satisfying satire with the “goal of saving democracy, one laugh at a time.”

Karma Darwin & Indigo King, Garcia’s @ The Capitol Theatre, Port Chester
Dually dynamic bands will take the stage this Friday, each with surreal energy and innovative twists on classic musical styles. Karma Darwin, a four-man rock ‘n’ roll gem out of Brewster, headline following openers and local Battle of the Bands winner Indigo King, whose “Beatlesque” style they describe as “space aquarium.” Don’t miss your chance to see these two local favorites hold their own. Tickets are limited to 21+ and are only $10.

Free Chocolate and Candy Tasting, Imagine Candy, Scarsdale
You read that right. Imagine Candy has made all of our chocolate-Wonka-river dreams that much more real with their regular public chocolate and candy tastings. Enjoy award-winning favorites like sweet and salty Belgian Chocolate Pretzels, sugary caramels, or airy, decadent Champagne Truffles. With kosher, gluten/nut/dairy/sugar free options, this deal may just be too enticing to resist.
