Caught in a mid-summer slump? Get out and experience one, two, or all of these five awesome events happening around the county this Friday through Sunday.
Third Friday, Main Street, Tarrytown
The Tarrytown community’s favorite festival is back for its second run of the season. And as always, it’s the perfect place for a family outing, featuring demonstrations from Westchester Circus Arts and Josie’s International School of Dance, as well as numerous local vendors, crafts for kids, face painting, live music, and custom art. This month’s theme is “Celebrate Summer,” so swing by Main Street tomorrow and get your celebration on from 5-8:30 pm. Plus, admission is free.
Mother Shucker Oyster & Beer Fest, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Elmsford
A match made in the deep blue sea, local favorites the Cookery and Captain Lawrence Brewing Company are teaming up this Sunday to bring you unlimited oysters, a seafood roast, and tons of fine seasonal beers. Not to mention a little healthy competition, featuring the annual Shuck & Swallow contest, to the tune of live music. But don’t worry, if seafood isn’t your thing, a feast of pig, chicken, pizza, and more will be served as well. Admission is $75 for adults, $25 for kids, or $65 for your faithful Designated Driver.
Sip & Paint, Somerfield’s Restaurant, Somers
Get in touch with your artistic side—or your wino side—at Friday’s Sip & Paint hosted by Vine Van Gogh. Follow a talented local artist as they guide you through a step-by-step creation of your very own sunset portrait masterpiece, while sharing laughs with other local residents over your complementary drinks. Event begins at 7 pm, but if you arrive early you can enjoy Somerfield’s delicious dinner for 10 percent off. Event cost is $45.
Jane’s Addiction and Dinosaur Jr., Capitol Theatre, Portchester
Yes, you read that right. The ever-influential and indisputably iconic alt rockers are taking the stage at Port Chester’s own Cap this Sunday. This is one show that ’90s nostalgists and admirers of enduring charisma and musicianship alike cannot afford to miss. Doors open at 7 pm, concert begins at 8, and tickets range from $75 – $104.
Humane Society of Westchester’s Annual Dog Wash, Shelter Grounds, New Rochelle
Pets need weekend fun, too! Bring your pup to the 16th annual Dog Wash this Sunday from 10 am-3 pm for pampering, including baths and nail clippings, family portraits, “Ask the Trainer” and more. For the humans, there will be tons of food, vendors, and a raffle, all for a great cause.
