Harrison resident Anthony Grippo debuted Westchester’s first MOOYAH franchise in November of 2015 with a Briarcliff location. By April 2016 they opened a Larchmont shop, and now one year later they’re expanding something else: the menu.
Beginning in mid-January, MOOYAH switched to never-frozen 100% Certified Angus beef for their burger patties, and – in addition to previous lean turkey and black bean veggie patties – have introduced grilled and fried chicken for their sandwiches and salads.
Says Grippo, “We have a small breading station … if someone orders fried chicken, we dip it in egg, bread it, and fry it right there, fresh. It’s a little more labor-intensive, but so worth it.”
New toppings for sandwiches and hand-cut Idaho or sweet potato fries also join the menu: Texas chili, green chili queso, and classic German sauerkraut.

All burgers and hotdogs are available as salads, lettuce-wrapped Iceburgers, or on potato, multigrain, or gluten-free artisan buns that are now baked fresh in-house. MOOYAH’s website offers a full nutritional and allergen breakdown for all their plates.
“MOOYAH has always been a build-you-own burger place,” Grippo says. “People love that.” However he also recognizes that so many choices can sometimes lead to indecision. Enter the Favorites Menu: Every month, one Taste to Try burger is featured in the spotlight – this month it’s the “Sloppy Whoa” topped with American cheese, frizzled onions, chili, and a splash of A.1. – along with beloved past favorites like the classic MOOYAH cheeseburger, grilled chicken avocado club, and the Double Diablo (two quarter-pound Angus patties, pepper jack cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, pickled jalapeños, Cholula hot sauce, and mayo on a toasted potato bun).
“The guy in an office ordering lunch doesn’t get a burger every day … Having the ability to offer healthier options like salads and grilled chicken will entice people.”
Even more enticing? Grippo and MOOYAH are also looking to expand their local fundraising operations within their communities.
Try the new expanded menu at either of Westchester’s MOOYAH locations, but make sure to wear something with a waistband that also expands.
