Westchester Real Estate 2012: Armonk Best Place for Foodies

Yes, of course, there’s Port Chester and White Plains and New Rochelle—but Armonk is the hopping new place for foodies. Restaurant North, which opened less than two years ago, offers standout farm-to-table dining as envisioned by two alums of Union Square Cafe, Stephen Paul Mancini and Eric Gabrynowicz. They scour nearby Hudson Valley farms for seasonal delights for your palate. Wine Geeks Armonk, located in a vintage gas station, emphasizes wines from artisanal vineyards, many of which are organic. Just up the road on Main Street is Beascakes Bakery & Breads, a bakery specializing in custom-designed cakes but also offering other baked goods, including fabulous elephant ears.

The Livanos family finally brought a restaurant to their hometown when they opened Moderne Barn on Bedford Road in 2010. The operators of Oceana, Abboccato, and Molyvos in New York City—not to mention City Limits Diner in White Plains—developed a huge space into a swinging, casual American restaurant that’s perpetually packed, but always worth the wait.

For something old-fashioned (in a Japanese way), try Kira Sushi in Armonk (also in Chappaqua and Greenwich, Connecticut). Other stalwarts of the Armonk restaurant scene include Opus 465, Marc Charles Steakhouse, The Beehive, Gavi Restaurant, and Enzo’s Antichi Sapori.

Restaurant North boasts some of Westchester’s most exciting new offerings.
