Competitive golf in our area promises to be better than ever this season. With 19 championships, The Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) gives fans numerous opportunities to visit some fabulous venues and watch real top-notch competition up close and personal. Best of all, there’s never an admission charge!
The 61st Ike MGA Stroke Play Championship, won last year by Sleepy Hollow’s Cameron Young, is scheduled for June 27-28 at Essex Country Club, the oldest country club in New Jersey, while the 101st Met Open will be held at Glen Oaks Club on Long Island August 22-24. As defending champion Ben Polland says, “The Met Open is the most important event of the year.”
While the schedule includes courses throughout the metropolitan area, Westchester residents won’t have far to travel to take in the fun. Here are some of the sights you’ll see at MGA events close to home:
