“I look forward to the exciting opportunity to expand Fox’s signature morning news program to three hours daily,” Smith says. “Starting at 9 a.m., we have a unique opportunity to tackle the day’s headlines and move those stories forward with our nation’s newsmakers for viewers all across the country, including residents of Westchester County!”
If you’re wondering what’s moving out for Smith and Hemmer to move in, that’d be another Westchester local: Jon Scott, formerly of Happening Now, will be moving on to anchor FOX Report Weekend at 7 p.m. Saturdays and 6 p.m. Sundays. Starting June 16. Yes, that’s a Westchester anchor on every day week.
“News is breaking around the clock, and I’m excited to be the face of the Fox Report on Saturdays and Sundays,” Scott says. “To be entrusted with this interesting job keeping tabs on world events, and then to come home to relax in a place like Westchester is just the best kind of life I could imagine.”
Scott has covered national headlines with FOX News for two decades. Despite drawing criticism last year for remarks made to the Muslim community, FOX News president and Executive Editor Jay Wallace was enthusiastic for the move to weekends, stating in a press release, “Adding Jon Scott’s extensive experience in breaking news will help ensure our weekend coverage remains unparalleled in the industry.”
He added of the America’s Newsroom expansion, “Bill and Sandra’s ability to cut through the headlines and provide hard-hitting interviews with the nation’s leaders have made it must-see television and we’re excited to add an extra hour of this informative program to the weekday lineup.”
You can catch the new lineup starting Monday at 9 a.m.
