Beer Here, Too!
In reference to your October 2013 story on craft beers, please note there are many independent beverage centers in Westchester and surrounding counties. Many beverage centers have a large variety of craft beers and growler (draft) stations. They have indeed helped the growth of the micro-craft-beer industry. If possible, please include some reference to this in future beverage articles. —Sal Santucci, Croton-on-Hudson

Just finished reading the cover story on great getaways [September 2013]. I was happy to find several places I’d like to try out myself! Thanks for the great tips. —Jessica Giles, Brooklyn, NY

I had an issue with the article “Beer Here Now” [October 2013]. You obviously left out Yard House in the piece about beer places with food because you said you wanted to concentrate on places with better food. But in the same issue, you gave Peekskill Brewery (one of the places that allegedly had better food) 2 stars and said the food wasn’t all that good. If you’re going to include them in the article, shouldn’t you also have included the place with 130 beers on tap (and where some of the food is pretty good)? —Bill Rubin, Yorktown Heights
Writer Julia Sexton’s response: The restaurants that I included are operated by chefs who source their own ingredients (often locally), who man their own kitchens, and who create their own dishes and menus (often daily). The same cannot be said of Yard House. Plus, while there were some goofs during my visits to Peekskill Brewery, there was a lot to love about the one-two punch (beer+menu).

I’d like to move out of the ‘Never’ category.
We asked: In honor of Tom Clancy, who passed away as we were going to press, which of his stories always stuck with you?
You Answered:
Cindy Strang Rubino | All of them. Huge Clancy fan—it’s a sad, sad day!
David Krebs | Debt of Honor was one of the best books I’ve ever read.
