What the Westchester Magazine Team Wants for the Holidays

Westchester Magazine’s merry editors reveal what they want most this season.

For Christmas I would like a telescope—one that lets me view the second moon. I’m an avid stargazer and this will be the one gift that keeps on giving.

dinner cruise

Living just minutes from the Sound and a fan of all things nautical, I hope for more waterfront dining spots on this side of the county. The pièce de résistance would be a dinner cruise option with live music (or DJ) for truly fabulous evenings.

dance and socialize

I love to dance, but my nights at the club are long gone. I would love a place in Westchester to open for people over 40 who want to dance and socialize, but also like to be home in bed at a reasonable hour.

I would like a great Polish restaurant to open in lower Westchester with classic dishes such as veal cutlet, golabki (stuffed cabbage), pierogies, hunter’s stew, uszka (small mushroom dumplings), red and white borscht, pickle soup, as well as a variety of crepes.

I want tickets to a Savannah Bananas game! Baseball is one of my favorite things on this planet, and the way the Bananas have injected so much fun into the game is one of my favorite sports stories in recent years. I would lose my mind if I saw it live.

My most fervent holiday desire is for all the county’s selfless food banks, such as Feeding Westchester and Westchester Food Pantries, to have ample funds, donations, and volunteers this holiday season. If I had to pick a more personal holiday hope, it would be that Mount Kisco’s Mast Market reopens better than ever after the devastating fire it suffered last year.

Izakaya

Though it may sound obvious, mine is a wish for continued good health for myself and my loved ones, because with that, everything is possible. My gift is living in Westchester, where I am surrounded by beautiful nature and countless opportunities for walks, hikes, and mental rejuvenation. A fun Izakaya (Japanese drinks and snacks) would be great too!
