Best friends Gabriela Fuhr and Danielle Hrotko from Westchester are set to team up as contestants on MTV’s Fear Factor for a chance to win $50,000. The episode, titled Once Bitten, Twice Trapped will feature teams getting covered in Amazonian creatures while conquering a mental mousetrap game. But to win the prize money in tonight’s episode, airing at 10 p.m., teams will also be dragged to the bottom of a deep-water tank.
Both contestants have pre-existing fears that coincide with the challenges they will face in tonight’s episode. Fuhr has a fear of sharks and has prepped for the show by cliff jumping from bridges. Hrotko’s fears include heights, tarantulas, and being stranded. She has prepped for the show by trying to hold tarantulas, which could be an obstacle in the Amazon creature challenge.
“This was an experience like no other. Fear is a factor, but with a trusted teammate I was able to push my limits and overcome my fears,” says Hrotko.
The original ‘Fear Factor’ was Hrotko’s favorite show growing up, binging season after season.
“I connected to the true and raw emotions from contestants during the show,” explains Hrotko. “These emotions are a rarity in most television shows and that’s why I enjoyed watching it season after season.”
The new installment Fear Factor has been custom-created for a generation that is both empowered, but more anxious than ever. New stunts are inspired by urban legends, popular scary movies, and viral videos from today’s culture. Fear Factor forces contestants to push the boundaries of their comfort zones and take action.
Even though Hrotko gained a fear of snakes through this experience, she says she would be ready to do it all over again.
“MTV, let me know when you’re ready.”
