Westchester Journalist Racks Up a Dozen New York Emmy Nominations

News 12’s Tara Rosenblum is poised to sweep the local Emmy Awards this April.

You may have gotten around to watching Ladybird or The Shape of Water the week before Oscar night, but odds are good you’ve watched hours more Tara Rosenblum than Guillermo del Toro. The anchor and reporter for News 12 Westchester has been a staple on thousands of local television sets since joining the News 12 team in 2004, in that time earning more than 150 industry awards including 16 local Emmy wins and 74 nominations.

This makes her the most Emmy-nominated reporter in the New York market, but Rosenblum isn’t resting on her laurels: this year she’s set to add to that total with another dozen nominations. These include five as a reporter, one each for news writing (alongside Scott McGee), research, and journalistic experience, and another four for individual and ongoing segments such as DeJuan’s Story and Speak No Evil: Inside a Witches’ Coven.

Stan Kowalski, News Director at News 12 Westchester, said in a statement, “We’re extremely proud of our Emmy nominees. Their work represents News 12’s tradition of excellence in hyper-local news.”

Reached for comment, Rosenblum was quick to share the spotlight. “We were absolutely beyond thrilled and humbled to receive these 12 nominations for a collection of stories that exposed fraud, uncovered corruption, and explored a series of taboo topics. None of these nominations would be possible if not for my collaboration with some of the finest journalists in the country’s number 1 news market that include photographer extraordinaire Alan Flamenhaft, managing editor Scott McGee and News Director Stan Kowalski.”

“We collectively feel these nominations prove that despite the constant stream of headlines out of Washington, hyper-local news in Westchester and the Hudson Valley is as important as ever and News 12 remains the local news leader to deliver it!”

The 2018 New York Emmy Awards will be presented on Saturday, April 14 at the Marriott Marquis Broadway Ballroom in Times Square.
